WHAT IS SKIN NEEDLING?
Skin Needling is for improving wrinkles and scars it has been
popular in other countries and utilized by technicians in the
beauty field and even plastic surgeons in the United States,
Europe, Canada an South Africa.
Skin needling is based on the old technique of tattooing with
out the pigments. The makeup artist or tattoo expert uses the
machine on the target areas as if he or she would be doing a
tattoo. Needling has some of the same benefits as laser
treatments and some d ermabrasion
treatments.
The needling of the skin creates tiny trauma
that initiate a natural process of healing which releases natural growth factors
and also stimulate the production of collagen. The new collagen fills depressed
scars and wrinkles from the bottom up lifting the depression so they are level
with the surrounding skin.
Needling is a sophisticated technique which promotes the body's
natural production of collagen and melacantis (pigment producing cells). This
process smoothes out scars, wrinkles and can even the tone of some skin discolorations. This
non-evasive procedure is long lasting and all natural.
Skin Needling is also known as Needle Abrasion. It has similar
results to Laser, Chemical Peels and other Dermabrasion treatments
but with less damage to the epidermis. This gives better long-term
results as more healthy skin and blood vessels are left intact
to promote healing and deposit collagen. Frequent ongoing
treatments are still possible, unlike other methods of resurfacing
which eventually thin and age the skin due to the destruction
of whole layers of epidermis.
Skin Needling creates minimal dermal damage without the removal
of the healthy epidermis, which happens with other resurfacing techniques.
Because the epidermis is left intact, the healing period is rapid.
The skin DOES NOT experience sun sensitivity, skin color loss,
hyper-pigmentation or thinning of the skin. Standard care and
cleanliness are all that is required during healing.
Skin Needling can treat sensitive areas that other treatments
have to avoid, such as lower eyelids and neck and the
back of hands. It can also improve skin texture and
softens the fibrous bands to give more flexibility in movement
and a more natural blended appearance.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Needling is accomplished through microscopic punctures made
to the top layer of the epidermis. This stimulates the body’s
natural wound healing by breaking up old collagen strands to
produce natural collagen and melanocytes, making smoother skin. Needling tends
to simulate the effects of those from laser
resurfacing, but without the damage to the epidermis.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST? Some clients see immediate
results from needling, others notice improvement gradually over
an 8 week period. Individual results vary as each body’s
regeneration will vary. Most clients require multiple sessions
to achieve desired results that generally last years.
IS IT SAFE? Needling is safe with stringent cross-contamination
standards, and because nothing is injected, allergic reactions and side-effects
are non-existent. Needling is a minimally invasive procedure. With rapid
healing and simple aftercare, needling is an attractive solution for scars
and wrinkles.
AREAS THAT CAN BE TREATED… Needling
can improve the following:
SMOOTHEN WRINKLES ON THE FACE Fine, medium,
or heavy wrinkles respond well to needling. Natural collagen
is produced to fill lines for more smooth skin. The results
are very similar to those from lasers. Needling may not
completely erase lines, but clients report being told their skin
looks years younger.
SCARS FROM ACNE & INJURIESThe pitted scars
left from acne, chicken pox, and other injuries can be plumped,
giving the skin a more even, smoother texture. Scars from
surgery can also benefit from needling. The skin color can be
evened out so the differences in tone are more subtle. Works
for face and body.
STRETCH MARKS & WHITE SCARS Needling can
also activate the production of melanocytes to restore a more
even, natural skin tone to white or light scars. This is
good for scars that are lighter from injuries, surgeries,
and stretch mark. Works on most skin types. UV
exposure during healing can improve results.
SCAR RELAXING: Scar tissue that is tight or
impairs movement can be softened and relaxed to increase flexibility
and movement. Primarily used for burn survivors.
